The Residential College endeavours to educate young men in its charge according to the best
traditions of the country while instructing them in modern arts and sciences. In other words it also
attends to their overall growth and development so that they may become strong and healthy
individuals with sound moral principles, learn to respect higher values of life and become conscious of their obligations to the poor masses around them.
It does all this and much else besides, not only by instruction but also by involving the inmates in a series of well-planned activities. This creates an elevating experience for the students.
Students of our college take activeparticipation in NPTELand SWAYAM courses. These interactive
online courses are designed by the MHRD, Govt. of India to provide best quality education to all
in a digital platform. The NPTEL (National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning) courses
are directly offered by the faculties of seven IITs and IISC Bangalore, from where our students
also get certificates after their successful completion of the courses. The SWAYAM courses are
also prepared by the best chosen faculties from various premiere academic institutions of the
country. Our college has been selected as the Local Chapter of NPTEL programme. Many of our
students register their names in these courses in every academic session.
The College is also associated with the UGC-AICTE approved initiative called INTERNSHALA.
The objective of this initiative is to equip students with relevant skills and practical exposure through internships and online trainings. Students of our college are facilitated with this valuable opportunity of acquiring industry-specific internship experience which ultimately strengthen them for their future employments.
To make our students not only aware of but also respectful to our heritage and tradition, courses on Indian Culture and Value Education have been made part and parcel of the academic curriculum.
In the weekly classes that are held on this subject, special emphasis is laid on the diverse nature of our culture which is a rich mosaic of many races, creeds and religions. At the end of each academic session, the students take exams on the courses taught. Special prizes are awarded to the students on the basis of their performance. They undertake practical lessons of Yoga, Pranayam, Dhyana, Bhajana etc. in the Prayer Halls of the hostels.
The day’s work in the hostels begins with prayer in the shrines. This is repeated in the evening.
The prayer includes devotional songs, readings from the scriptures, followed by Contemplation
and Meditation for some time. Though each student has the freedom to follow his own faith,
attendance is compulsory at these prayer sessions, for this is good for the mental health of the
students. We do not preach any dogma, we pay due homage to all faiths and prophets. Besides,
the daily work of the college begins with a short prayer attended by the students, teachers and
members of the non-teaching staff.
RKMRC has a prestigious network of alumni whose dedicated service to the world has earned
the name and prestige that this college has and we have an Alumni Portal where we attempt to
bring in all the alumni on the same page to cherish their engagements with the college and campus.
This Alumni platform not only helps all of us to stay connected with our college and classmates,
but also share a plethora of professional opportunities. As an institution lives and flourishes
through its alumni, every year we get richer with hundreds of students graduating from the
college and joining the network to carry on the legacy and help the college live through troubled
The college has a well-organised Alumni Association, called the Mahavidyalaya Praktani. While
the Praktani basks in the glory of its numerous renowned ex-students, well-placed in life, it always
gives sincere efforts to gather resources from them and stand by the needy students, present and
past, and the staff of the college, to help them in their hours of need. The Praktani also arranges
a colourful Re-union of the ex-students on the 25th December every alternate year ending with
odd numerals e.g., 2009, 2011, 2013, 2015 and 2017 etc.
